By putting on a headset, the visitor steps into a three-dimensional world of sound. Through six audio stories, they can discover how filmmakers creatively use cinematic elements such as music, colour and montage to create masterpieces. Thus, it seems as though you are looking through the eyes of the cameraman from In the Mood for Love, help the screenwriter create the script for Cléo from 5 to 7, and listen to the score for Once Upon a Time in the West alongside the composer.
Among the four updated audio stories, one has been developed especially for children. They discover how voice actor Hiba Ghafry brings her character Babs to life in the animated film Grunt (Knor). “The great thing about voice acting,” she says, “is that small differences in your tone of voice make a big difference in the movie.”
An audio story might seem like a simple way to tell a tale, but developing one is a complex affair. Close collaboration between Eye Filmmuseum, Klevr Sounddesign and Studio Louter ensured that the concept, content and form supported each other at every stage of the project.
