KlevR has created an immersive, off-grid sound experience for Schokland’s sculptures. Visitors activate the audio by turning a small wheel, hearing stories from past residents and animals sharing biodiversity insights, enhanced by environmental sounds.

The theme ‘Living with Water’ connects nature, landscape, archaeology, and heritage at UNESCO World Heritage Schokland. A new experience route presents history through art, audio, video, and interactive elements, with updated signage and seating.

Einkorn, Flevo-landschap and Museum Schokland collaborated to tell these stories in an innovative way. Each terp hosts a sculpture of a historical figure with an animal, symbolizing past life and environmental conservation. The animals explain how re-wetting the land preserves archaeological treasures and promotes biodiversity, illustrating Schokland’s deep connection to water and nature.

Kloosterboer Decor created the sculptures, designed by Kinkorn and artist Emilena Schagen-Loza Garnica. The statues depict historical figures alongside animals, representing Schokland’s cultural and natural heritage. Crafted using a mix of traditional craftsmanship and modern technology, they were digitally modeled and enlarged for precision.
